Strategic Interim Solution for Growth at Simpson Strong Tie
Niklas Lundin, CEO of Simpson Strong Tie, an industrial company operating in the Nordic market, recently faced a pressing situation. The company urgently needed a key person to streamline its factory in Denmark. The solution was an interim consultant, who turned out to be only a few days away.
”We were faced with the challenge of a newly built factory in Denmark where machines and equipment were in place, but where we needed to increase our output in the short term, says Niklas.
Since moving the factory in February, Simpson Strong Tie had experienced some backlog due to high pressure on deliveries. Recruiting a permanent Operations Manager would take too long, so the decision to hire an interim consultant was made quickly. Within just a couple of weeks, the right person was found and hired.
”The speed was crucial for us. We received candidates within a couple of days and interviewed a handful. The requirements were a Danish-speaking consultant, living close to the factory to be on site and have experience from similar production environments. We were looking for an operational leader who could make the day-to-day operations work better in the short term. We are now looking forward to introducing the consultant and have high hopes for the near future when we get him in place,” says Niklas.
The interim consultant’s mission will be to get the organization in the factory to work together effectively. This requires daily management to increase productivity and reduce the backlog that has built up since February. Niklas and his team have high expectations to make improvements in a short time.
”The factory is in place, and the machines are installed. Now it’s about getting everything working and bringing the organization together. For me personally, it means a lot that we have the consultant in place. It takes the pressure off me, and since I’m working from Sweden, it’s important that the interim consultant is present in Denmark. We are on a growth journey where we need to adapt our capacity, and now we are not losing momentum thanks to the interim solution. It will be a crucial function in the short term,” concludes Niklas.
